With 'support of the group,' ex-49ers OL expects Gabbert to start
Former 49ers lineman Alex Boone signed a four-year, $26.8 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.The 6-foot-7, 330-pounder joined ProFootballTalk Live on NBC Sports Radio this week and addressed the 49ers quarterback situation, among other things. Gabbert will compete with veteran Colin Kaepernick and rookie Jeff Driskel in training camp when players report on July 30. Kaepernick, 28, went 2-6 as the starter last season, completing 59 percent of his passes, throwing for six touchdowns and five interceptions and rushing for 256 yards and a score.
