• As expected, the Senate voted to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court Monday night. The final vote was 52 to 48, with just one Republican, Susan Collins of Maine, opposing the nomination. For decades, nominees needed 60 votes to be confirmed by the Senate over objections, but because of a rules change in 2017 only a simple majority is now required.
