Amid security concerns, the European Union puts 5G -- and Huawei -- under the microscope

The European Union is putting under the microscope the rollout of new, high-speed mobile networking technologies known as 5G in a move that could affect the technology's dominant company -- Huawei. The news follows the release of a public report from the European Union that enumerated a number of challenges with 5G technology. Heightened scrutiny of 5G implementation on European shores actually began back in March as member states wrestled with how to address American pressure to block Huawei from building out new telecommunications infrastructure on the continent.
