Theater Operators Lose a Legal Bid to Allow Reopening in New Jersey

AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE: AMC), Cinemark Holdings (NYSE: CNK), and Cineworld's (OTC: CNNW.F) Regal Cinemas took the State of New Jersey to court to overturn Gov. Phil Murphy's refusal to let them reopen, but they left court empty-handed on Tuesday after a U.S. district court judge rejected their request. Although shopping malls, churches, libraries, and other indoor sites of public congregation have been allowed to reopen following orders to shut down in March, movie theaters have not received the same consideration.
