Facebook Vows to Go Rogue and Not Comply With New Turkish Social Media Law

Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) will not comply with a new law passed in Turkey that demands social media companies establish a presence in the country to monitor their content. The Financial Times says Facebook reportedly notified the Turkish government within the past few days that it would not comply with the "draconian" law nor did it want to be part of "a restrictive regime," according to an academic and rights activist who claims a company representative explained its position. The new law was the result of a backlash following Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) users posting harsh comments about Erdogan's daughter and son-in-law on the birth of their fourth child.
