New Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin received support from higher education leaders across the state Thursday for a proposal to open K-12 charter schools run by the commonwealth's colleges and universities and funded by the state. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, more than two dozen education leaders joined the Republican governor on stage as he promoted legislation he said presents "an opportunity for us to innovate K-12 education." The measure is one of several supported by the governor to create more schools that operate outside of the eye of local school boards but still receive public money.
