‘Midnight Militia’ threatens immigrant leader behind planned Charlotte boycott

A key organizer of Monday’s planned immigrant protest at Marshall Park has reportedly been threatened by a group calling itself the “Midnight Militia.” Immigrant advocate Oliver Merino posted the threatening letter on his Facebook page late Tuesday, chiding the senders by noting “at least they spelled my name correctly.” The handwritten postcard uses racist and anti-gay terms, and notes Merino’s role in recently presenting city and county leaders with a list of demands on behalf of the 54,000 undocumented immigrants living in Mecklenburg County. It also concludes with a threat against undocumented immigrants: “You better find you a hole and get in it. They have your home address.” Merino could

Obamacare subsidies remain sticking point in spending bill negotiations

hobert: I said a long time ago that the subsidies are the main reason barry care was so popular. I also said take the subsidies away and see how popular it is. I also said the problem the republicans are having repealing barry care is the subsidies ( free or near free healthcare paid by taxpayers ). It is like when you take candy from a baby. The baby IS GOING TO WHINE AND CRY when you take it away. This is one reason we voted president trump in. We want this repealed. Most of us are paying way more for our healthcare while our tax money is paying for the subsidies and we are tired of that. I knew that the only thing holding the republicans hostage on this is the subsidies. Pelosi and other dems can use their tax money to continue paying for those that get these subsidies. Barry care did nothing for most of us ,but , raise our premiums while our taxes went to subsidies. To put it simply : Barry care took from the middle class ( those of us that work ) and gave to those who don't work or work very little... It was designed to take tax money and give it to the poor or lazy.
