Plug Power Posts Dismal Q1. High Hydrogen Costs Are To Blame.

Plug Power, a leading maker of hydrogen fuel cells, is struggling to curb expenses as hydrogen costs linger near historical highs. Plug Power management said in a letter to shareholders that the earnings miss was "due to increased hydrogen molecule cost associated with historically higher natural gas prices and continued supplier disruptions." Its fuel cells replace conventional batteries in equipment and vehicles powered by electricity.
