I’m George R.R. Martin’s copy editor for 'Winds of Winter' and I'm just super swamped with other stuff right now
Hello I am George R.R. Martin's copy editor for Winds of Winter, and let me tell you, I am just so busy with other stuff right now, I can't possibly edit this thing right now.
In all honesty the book has been done for like a year now, they're just waiting for me to look it over and edit it. And honestly I wish I could. But I am just slammed at the moment. I'm like so behind on emails, and I got like three documentary series I still gotta watch (Don’t you even think about spoiling The Keepers for me haha.) I barely have time for anything right now, and now you want me to copy edit this mammoth of a book just because YOU want to know what happens in the next installment of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy thriller saga A Song of Ice and Fire, a book series unlike anything in the cultural zeitgeist before?
That’s kind of selfish of you, don’t you think? I’m doing my best.
Look, I get it. You want to read this book. But the thing is, it’s gotta go through me first and I just don’t have the time to edit it right now. I am sooooo busy I just like...CAN’T right now, you know? I really wish I could. But life has been downright crazy lately, and I just need a sec to like…take a breather. It doesn’t help that this is my busiest time of year either, what with the family and all. Ah, and my wife’s birthday is coming up. Plus I promised little Jason I’d take him to Disney World. And I don’t even wanna think about work while I’m on vacation.

I can't even begin to wrap my head around this right now.
I have to go to the grocery store tonight to pick up some things, and then I have to go to my nephew's piano recital tomorrow night. I don't have even a second to myself right now.
The book is great, by the way. I gave it a casual once over. And I loved it. Shit, man. There is some really fucking good action, romance, tension, and plot twists in here, and it's all elegantly written with the delicate care and attention to detail that only George R.R. Martin can bring to this series. Christ almighty is it a good book. I mean really good. You’re all in for a treat.
But unfortunately, I just do not have the time to really get in there and edit the thing right now. Sorry. Them’s the breaks. I have so much on my plate right now I can’t even think about editing this thing. It makes my head spin thinking about how busy I am.
Gah, I just remembered I have a dentist appointment on Wednesday. My whole week is shot.
I simply can’t prioritize getting this thing edited and published at the time. I hope you all understand.
