New luxury hotel to open in Pocono Township

POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Adding to the list of destinations in the Pocono Mountains, a new luxurious hotel will soon be opening in Pocono Township.

28/22 News Reporter Sydney Kostus was live Monday morning with more about ‘The Swiftwater Hotel’ and how it’s bringing jobs to the area.

A brand new building stands tall on Route 611 in Swiftwater. Showcasing rustic-contemporary construction blending in with the woods surrounding it, “The Swiftwater” is bringing luxury to those visiting the Poconos.

“There’s a reason 30 million people come here, it’s because it’s an awesome destination,” said Dante Trapasso.

Managing partner Dante Trapasso is no stranger to the area.

“I’ve lived here my entire life. My family’s been here for, jeez… 34 years, and it’s something that we saw a need for in the area. A luxury destination that’s kind of right in the heart of everything,” Trapasso told 28/22 News.

He walked us through the construction of the hotel that’s been underway for more than a year.

With the goal to open by this May, the Swiftwater will offer 100 rooms and provide amenities such as concierge services and a year-round heated indoor-outdoor pool.

“It goes out into a garden patio that has ivy all across the back wall. You have radiant heat as well as this wonderful fire pit,” Trapasso said.

Adding a boost to the local economy by bringing in dozens of jobs, he says their goal is to draw people to the area and have them experience the communities and other local businesses.

“An outdoor adventurer who wants to go ziplining, mountain biking, and whatever or it’s somebody that just wants to relax and do wine tours and take in the beauty of the Pocono Mountains. You’ll be able to do that all here at the Swiftwater,” Trapasso added.

The Swiftwater is hosting a job fair today from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Desaki Restaurant in Pocono Township.
