It’s the day “Star Wars” fans nationwide have been waiting for: The franchise’s latest film is out tonight. Last night marked the new release’s London premiere and showcased some suitably futuristic fashion from the film’s leading actresses as well as some other British stars.

Daisy Ridley was arguably the highlight of the red carpet (she’s the film’s leading lady that has popped up out of nowhere and suddenly become a huge star) and opted to take a walk on the dark side in a galactic gown.

The 23-year-old, who plays Rey in the seventh installment, looked out-of-this-world in a bespoke Roland Mouret dress, featuring a one-shoulder design and gathered organza skirt. It was by no means the actress’ first winning look; she’s been taking the red carpet by storm over the last few weeks, donning incredible ensembles from the likes of Mary Katrantzou, Chanel, Dior and Giambattista Valli.

Lupita Nyong’ also opted for a dark ensemble and stunned in a dress that boasted a VERY short skirt. Hot off the Proenza Schouler’s spring/summer 2016 catwalk, the 32-year-old’s edgy outfit, featuring a peplum waist and beaded skirt, wouldn’t look out of place in the film itself.

But it’s Nyong’o’s metallic blue lippy that we can’t get over. Paired with a oversized pair of gold earrings and an up-do covered in a net, it looked just right for the occasion - and makes us want to get this futuristic lip a go, pronto.

Meanwhile Gwendoline Christie highlighted her statuesque 6ft 3 frame in a floor-length gown. Boasting a feather adorned bodice and a flowing skirt, the navy and black frock suited the blonde beauty perfectly.

Felicity Jones was another star who took to the red carpet in Leicester Square. The “Theory of Everything” actress went for a simple LBD, that highlighted her slim frame and looked decidedly un-fussy next to the other actresses’ frocks.

Dazzling in a sequin-encrusted black jumpsuit, Myleene Klass’s look was won by her velvety plum lipstick.

New parents Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter looked as dapper as always at the star-studded event. The actor and his wife looked a lot more conservative than most of the other stars that took the red carpet, with Hunter drawing attention to her tiny post-pregnancy waistline in a monochrome striped skirt and matching polo neck.

Two of the Beckham brood, 16-year-old Brooklyn and 13-year-old Burberry model Romeo, also attended the premiere. Both brothers sported matching leather jackets, black T-shirts and jeans paired with boots.
