In case you’ve been comfortably napping under a rock somewhere and missed it, there’s a new Wonder Woman movie, and it’s exactly what the world needs. If you’re still on the fence about heading to the theater this weekend, you need to read Lupita Nyong’o’s Wonder Woman review — we’re sure it will help you decide.

The much-anticipated movie stars Gal Gadot and is shattering gender barriers along with a few box office records; it’s the first big-screen adaptation of the DC Comics super-heroine’s story, and broke the record for most money made by a woman-helmed film in its first weekend (more than $97 million!). The film opened this weekend to mostly rave reviews, making it the best-reviewed DC movie since 2008’s The Dark Knight.

Lupita Nyong’o raved about Wonder Woman on Instagram, calling it “fierce, sensual, and just amazing.”

The Black Panther and Queen of Katwe actress said,

“Ok people, I just left the theater and KNOW for CERTAIN that the GODS have seen fit to BLESS us with #WONDERWOMAN. W.O.W. It is a superhero movie like none I have ever seen. Epic. FUN. Engaging. Stylistically Captivating. Funny in an honest, not-trying-too-hard way. Witty. Smart. Perfect length. Fierce. Sensual. Just amazing.”

“@Gal_Gadot will glue you to the screen and at the same time make you want to run to the nearest costume shop to get your W on and join the #GODESSNESS right away (W = #WomanWarriorOfTheWorld),” she continued.

Lupita went on to give a shoutout to director Patty Jenkins, too. #womensupportingwomen

“Director #PattyJenkins IS NOT PLAYING AROUND, as she gives us some AMAZON REALNESS in an exquisitely directed story. Chris Pine is irresistible. The score is KILLER. And it is the type of film that I think you can enjoy over and over. This movie definitely goes down as a classic in its genre for me. @wonderwomanfilm #RunAndGoSeeIt #HadToGush #PromotionFromTheHeart.”

Nyong’o wasn’t the only famous lady showing Wonder Woman support this weekend.

Octavia Spencer shared a pic of her movie ticket, with the caption: “Female lead. Female director. Female empowerment. #wonderwoman”

And Krysten Ritter, who plays fellow super-heroine Jessica Jones on the Netlfix series, couldn’t wait to go see the film.

With all the recent controversy surrounding the movie’s early screenings, we’re so happy that there’s such an intense level of support.
