UPDATE: Lufkin PD arrests wanted man

UPDATE: The Lufkin Police Department confirmed that Shaquille Wortham, 31 of Lufkin, was arrested last night after a brief foot pursuit.


LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) – Lufkin Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a man who allegedly fled from officers on Friday.

The City of Lufkin released a statement asking residents to be on the lookout for Shaquille Wortham, 31 of Lufkin, after he allegedly fled from officers. Officials described Wortham as being six feet tall, 175 pounds and wearing a gray t-shirt and red basketball shorts.

The City said that officers were attempting to serve warrants on Wortham in the 400 block of Holland Drive when he allegedly fled into a wooded area near Wood Avenue and East Lufkin Avenue.

Officials said that due to the proximity the incident had to Lufkin High School, they monitored Loop 287 to ensure students safety and made school staff aware.
