Now that Lucifer has been saved by Netflix in shining armour, some details about the fourth season have been teased.

According to co-showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich, Lucifer will split its original plan for season four in half.

When asked how the original season four story plan will be affected, TVLine was informed that the next series will encompass what was to be the first half of the original arc.

"We were going to have two parts to it anyway, so we'll just tell a really strong, gnarly first part," Modrovich said.

Henderson adds that doing so "lets us concentrate the story and focus it, and that's what's really exciting about this", adding: "We have a really strong first half that is now going to make for an amazing story."

One month after Lucifer was cancelled by Fox, star Tom Ellis confirmed on Twitter on Friday (June 15) that Netflix had saved the show.

"WE DID IT !!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to everyone for your continued support and love for #Lucifer I am so happy for all our fans I'm going to burst," he tweeted.

"#LuciferSeason4 on @Netflix wow that sounds nice. You fans made this happen. #LuciFansrock #Lucifersaved"

Netflix has ordered 10 new episodes of Lucifer for the upcoming fourth season, though reps for Warner Bros Television and the show's new streaming home declined to get specific.
