LSU QBs Justin McMillan and Lowell Narcisse to transfer

LSU gained a transfer quarterback in the offseason. It’s now losing two quarterbacks to transfers as the season is about to begin.

Both Justin McMillan and Lowell Narcisse are leaving the program. The two quarterbacks were buried on the depth chart after the arrival of former Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow.

McMillan was a recruit in the class of 2015

According to Rivals’ Tiger Details, McMillan is a graduate transfer and eligible to play immediately at his new school. He was a member of LSU’s class of 2015 and never started a game in his LSU career. He had an outside chance at the starting job before Burrow arrived on campus. But once Burrow became the likely starter at LSU, the quarterbacks who were already with the program saw their chances downgraded.

Narcisse is a redshirt freshman

Narcisse, a member of the class of 2017, will go two years without being able to play if he sits out the 2018 season as a transfer. He was a three-star member of the 2017 recruiting class and Tiger Details said he was running as the No. 4 quarterback when fall camp opened.

Tulane, SMU, Memphis and North Carolina are some notable teams to watch as Narcisse evaluates his next landing spot. Proximity to home will very likely play a key a role in his decision.

Narcisse is a Louisiana native.

Burrow and Myles Brennan remain

If Burrow is the presumptive No. 1 quarterback, the backup for the Tigers looks to be Myles Brennan. He was 14-24 passing for 182 yards a touchdown and two interceptions in a primarily backup role to former starter Danny Etling.

Sophomore Andre Sale and freshman Jordan Loving are the only other two quarterbacks on the LSU roster. Loving is a Louisiana native and Sale is a transfer from Tennessee Tech. LSU was flush with quarterbacks entering the season, so some transfers as the pecking order became established aren’t surprising. It’s just not often that you see two quarterbacks transfer within hours of each other.
