SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire -09/06/12)- LRAD Corporation (LRAD), the world's leading provider of long range acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), announced today it has received its largest order to date for domestic law enforcement and emergency responders. The $468,000 order from Nashville Metro, the governing body for Nashville and Davidson County (Tennessee), includes LRAD 100X™, LRAD 300X™, LRAD 500X™, LRAD 1000Xi™ and LRAD-RX® systems and support equipment.

"We appreciate Nashville Metro's order, which provides their police department and emergency responders with LRAD systems and support equipment for almost any situation," remarked Tom Brown, president and CEO of LRAD Corporation. "Using powerful, highly intelligible long range voice broadcasts, LRAD systems assist law enforcement and emergency responders serve warrants safely, conduct SWAT operations, talk down potential suicides from bridges and buildings, safely remove barricaded subjects, conduct DUI checkpoints, warn residents of imminent weather-related or man-made danger, communicate instructions to crowds during large outdoor events and many other civil applications."

LRAD systems transmit focused, multi-language voice commands and warning tones that can be clearly heard and understood inside buildings and vehicles and over background noise in any type of terrain and environment over distances from 200 yards to 2 miles. Every LRAD system comes with a hardened MP3 player to record and playback messages on the fly or to play pre-recorded warnings, instructions and messages in any language for any operational scenario.

LRAD systems are rugged, easy to operate and can be mounted, temporarily or permanently, on police and emergency responder vehicles. LRAD is a personnel multiplier when a limited number of officers are available to respond to a situation. Using safe, but powerful directed voice broadcasts, LRAD creates large standoff zones, determines intent at safe distances, resolves uncertain situations peacefully and saves lives on both sides of the Long Range Acoustic Device®.

"Cities and departments of all sizes are acquiring LRAD systems to help keep the peace and keep officers and citizens safe during emergency and everyday situations," Brown concluded.
