Love tacos? Margaritas? How to get discounted tickets to downtown Modesto festival
What’s better than a taco? Lots of tacos.
Where can you find lots of tacos? At the Modesto Taco Fest in downtown on April 27.
Over 35 food vendors will line up on I Street between 11th and 12th streets and on 11th Street between H & I Streets from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Attendees can expect tacos from all over the Central Valley, Sacramento, the Bay Area and beyond. Vendors include Flaco’s Tacos, The Twisted Pig, Birria Fuego and Oaxacan Tamales.
Rancho Fresco Mexican Grill will be hosting a free chips and salsa bar at 1008 J St.
This year marks the fifth time Modesto native and Pure209 co-founder Darrel Wilkins has put on the event that highlights tacos and Mexican cuisine.
“We have a huge Hispanic community and I thought downtown could use a fun, family-friendly event (with) a low price point,” he said. “I also love tacos.”
Tacos aren’t the only thing you’ll find at the festival. Mobile bartenders will be serving micheladas, margaritas, tequila, beer and Jarritos.
Local nonprofit Paws & Pints is hosting chihuahua races. Those who sign up their dogs for the race get free entry to the festival.
Luchador wrestling, hosted by the California Wrestling Association, will take place from 2 to 7 p.m.
There will be live music, baile folklorico, salsa dancing, face painting and a cornhole tournament.
Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. Kids under 14 and adults over 65 get in the festival for free.
