‘I Love America Day’ celebrated at Dyess Elementary School

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) — The 43rd annual “I Love America Day” was held at Dyess Elementary School. Each year, fifth graders dress up in costumes of key figures in American history and perform a patriotic program to express gratitude to those who serve our country.

Principal Heath Wright of Dyess Elementary shared that this event fosters community pride and tradition.

“This is my first year here at Dyess, but I will still have former students and adults come in. The one thing they never forget is who they played in I Love America. So it just gives a sense of pride, and it’s very traditional,” Wright shared.

The children sang the military medley, and many of their parents, some of whom are actively serving, joined in. They then gathered for a parade on the campus.
