The love affair between ESPN Brazil and LeBron James hit a new high Friday night

It’s no secret that LeBron James is an international superstar, idol, hero and icon. But ESPN Brazil’s love for James reached new heights last night thanks to an outstanding play-by-play announcer and an enamored reporter.

ESPN Brazil’s broadcast crew put together a masterpiece on James’ late three.

James hit back-to-back long fadeaway threes down the stretch, thwarting any chance of a late Boston comeback and sending ESPN Brazil’s broadcasting team into delirium:

The three-man broadcast crew of Rômulo Mendonça, Ricardo Bulgarelli and Eduardo Agra then began chanting in unison “LeBron, you thief, you stole my heart!”

It was a terrific call of James’ clutch three-pointer, a bucket that gave him 44 points before he finished with 46, one of the best games of his playoff career. If James can make grown men celebrate like that, his impact on young aspiring basketball players across Brazil must be incredible.

Though James did not participate in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro following his championship with Cleveland, he did score 30 points against the Brazilians in an exhibition in 2012. Furthermore, James shared six seasons in Cleveland with Anderson Varejão, one of Brazil’s most accomplished NBA players ever.

ESPN Brazil’s Paulo Antunes then became James’ favorite reporter.

Antunes asked the Cavaliers superstar about how he has evolved in clutch time over the years, saying “When the going gets tough, you’re always hitting.” James responded by asking what Antunes’ name was, and he said “Paulo from ESPN Brazil.”

“I appreciate you saying I’ve been clutch my whole career,” James answered, smiling “There’s not many like you, I tell you. There’s not many like you. Either you’re being very kind because it’s national wine day to me or I love Brazil or I don’t know what it is right now…”

Cavaliers-Celtics Game 7 is Sunday

The Cavaliers head back to Boston with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. If James can deliver like he did in Game 6, there’s a good chance people in both Cleveland and Brazil will be celebrating James’ eighth-straight trip to the championship round, and another great play-by-play call could be on its way.
