Louisiana State Police ID man who died after manhunt, shooting in East Feliciana Parish

JACKSON, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisiana State Police have released the identity of a 37-year-old man who died Thursday, April 4, after a gunfire exchange with law enforcement in East Feliciana Parish.

According to LSP, deputies with the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office were responding to a domestic violence report near the 4800 block of Highway 68 in Jackson on April 4. Upon arrival, deputies learned Jonathan N. Johnson, of Jackson, was armed. Johnson reportedly fled into a wooded area.

The sheriff’s office requested K-9 assistance from the Dixon Correctional Institute. The DCI officers found Johnson and told him to surrender. Johnson reportedly fired a shot, forcing the DCI officers to return fire.

State Police say Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
