Louisiana small businesses have until end of April to apply for federal disaster assistance after statewide drought
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding small nonfarm businesses in Louisiana about the approaching deadline to apply for a federal disaster loan for economic injury after the statewide drought.
The deadline to apply is Monday, April 29.
“These low-interest loans are to offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by drought in the following primary parishes that began Aug. 22, 2023,” said the SBA in a press release.
Louisiana small businesses in the following primary parishes can apply: Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Grant, Iberville, Jefferson, La Salle, Lafourche, Livingston, Natchitoches, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Saint Bernard, Saint Charles, Saint Helena, Saint James, St. John the Baptist, Terrebonne, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.
Louisiana small businesses in the following neighboring parishes can apply: Acadia, Beauregard, Bienville, Caldwell, De Soto, Franklin, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Red River, Sabine, Saint Landry, Saint Martin, Saint Mary, Saint Tammany, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Vernon and Winn.
Small businesses in the following neighboring Mississippi counties can apply: Adams, Amite, Hancock and Wilkinson.

SBA said a separate declaration offers assistance to small businesses impacted by the Sept. 19 to Dec. 5, 2023 drought.
The agency is offering help to small businesses in over 60 parishes across Louisiana that were economically impacted by the extreme drought. The funding aims to help small businesses in the aquaculture industry that rely on crawfish season, SBA said.
