Louisiana ranks third-highest state with high school dropouts in US, study shows

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisiana was ranked to have the third-highest dropout rate of all states in the U.S.

In a study conducted by Teach Simple, the data revealed the most and least high school dropouts across the nation from 2017-2021.

Louisiana ranked third with 7.36% of high school dropouts. The state that ranked the highest with high school dropouts is New Mexico with 8.51%.

According to U.S. News school rankings, Louisiana is ranked 47th in the nation in education.

“The pandemic has had a significant impact on education across the U.S. and recent reports revealed that since the pandemic, an estimated 50,000 students were missing from any kind of U.S. school,” said Cole Vineyard, founder of Teach Simple.
