Louisiana man sentenced to chemical castration, 30 years in jail after rape conviction

LIVINGSTON, La. (BRPROUD) — A Walker man was sentenced to 30 years in jail and chemical castration after he was convicted on three counts of second-degree rape.

According to 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux, Blake “Sparky” Lott must also register as a sex offender for life.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office started an investigation in April 2021 after one juvenile alerted authorities that she was a victim of sexual abuse. As the investigation unfolded, two more juvenile victims were identified by LPSO.

DNA evidence was used to back up the statements made by the victims, Perrilloux said.

He said the victims “had the courage to speak out against an adult, knowing the adversity it would bring.”

Assistant District Attorney Brett Sommer prosecuted the case.

“Lott surely deserves more than 30 years for his unspeakable acts,” Sommer said. He said that by taking the plea, the agreement “sends Lott away for a significant amount of time and spares these juvenile victims and their families from the trauma of a trial.”
