Louisiana bill to report diversity, equity, inclusion summary to Dept. of Education advances to Senate
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A bill that requires public schools and higher education institutions to report any diversity, equity and inclusion summaries has passed the House and is headed to the Senate.
HB904, authored by State Rep. Emily Chenevert, passed the House on Monday.
The bill states each public elementary and secondary school and public higher education institution should report a summary of all diversity, equity and inclusion programs to the Louisiana Department of Education and Board of Regents for fiscal years 2021-2022, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 by Oct. 31, 2024.
The bill also would require the state Department of Education and Board of Regents to submit a summary to various House and Senate committees by the end of 2024.
