Loughren drives in nine runs to propel Augusta past USC Aiken at SRP Park, 12-7

AUGUSTA, Ga – The Augusta Jaguars baseball team defeated USC Aiken 12-7 in the Battle for the Paddle at SRP Park on Tuesday, March 26.

It was a wet and rainy night, but the PBC rivals battled through all nine innings to complete their annual matchup at SRP Park.

After two errors in the first, a walk and a single brought in three runs for the Pacers.

Brady Loughren scored the first runs of the game for Augusta, hitting a two RBI single to cut the pacers lead to one run.

Two RBI singles hit by USC Aiken extended their lead to 5-2 in the top of the second inning.

Brady Loughren added his second hit and fourth RBI of the game after another single in the bottom of the second inning.

Dylan Wanat hit a RBI single to tie the game at 5-5. Brady Loughren pushed the Jaguars ahead 7-5, earning his third hit of the game and sixth RBI in only three innings.

USC Aiken would have the bases loaded in the top of fourth inning, but the Jaguars escaped the jam with no runs given up.

Brady Loughren extended the Jaguars lead once again with his fourth single of the game and seventh RBI. Loughren hit his fifth hit of the game and ninth RBI in the bottom of the eighth inning to soar AU past USC Aiken.

Augusta will begin a PBC three game series with Columbus State on Thursday at 6 p.m.
