Losing starting to get to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz

Losing is never easy. No matter who you are, you definitely hate to lose. For some though, taking these lumps is a lot harder on the mind than others. This could be the case for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, a player who is definitely not used to losing in life or on the football field for that matter.

Looking at Wentz, this is a young man that was drafted as the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He went to a FCS school in North Dakota State where he won that league’s National Title every year during his time with the Bison. After all, the team almost never lost which allowed both the program and Carson Wentz to develop a winning mentality.

Even during his first three games of the season, Wentz continued to win. Taking an overall weak Philadelphia Eagles team to a 3-0 start, Wentz was already being compared to the likes of many great NFL quarterback. Superlatives were flying and Wentz was likely on cloud nine. With that all coming undone in the last couple of months, it is no wonder why these results are getting to him.

Speaking about his rookie signal caller, Philly offensive coordinator revealed that the current trend of losses has slowly been getting to Wentz.

“For a while, I thought he seemed totally unflappable. Now, in some of the more recent losses, do you sense that, ‘OK, he’s feeling this one. He’s feeling this one.’? Yeah. We’re all feeling it. And I think he was that young, naive but still a very mature guy who came in and it was like, nothing is going to get this guy down. But it wears on you.”

During his career at North Dakota State, Wentz was apart of a whopping 57-wins while only experiencing four losses. As a starter for the Bison, Wentz was 20-3 and led the FCS school to it’s fourth and fifth straight national titles.

Depending on your view, this could be a sign of bigger problems ahead for Wentz. The jury is still out on whether or not his mechanics have regressed or just maintained this season while some are also questioning his status as the future leader for the Eagles. That said, Wentz is a rookie quarterback. Should he make the adjustments necessary to be a star in this league, Wentz has the talent needed to not only lead Philadelphia but potentially become one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks.
