Inglewood Unified School District closing 5 schools

Citing a decline in enrollment, the Inglewood Unified School District announced plans Wednesday to close five schools by the end of the 2024-25 school year.

The announcement was made by the district’s Superintendent Dr. James Morris, where he told the IUSD community that the “data tells the story.”

“Simply put, we’re operating more schools than we can afford to operate,” he said. “We need to close some schools to remain competitive, improve instruction and repair the schools that will stay open.”

The district said the schools that will close are:

  • Crozier Junior High School

  • Hudnall TK-6 Elementary School

  • Highland TK-6 Elementary School

  • Morningside High School

  • Kelso TK-6 Elementary School

The schools will close at the end of the 2024-25 school year.

The district had already closed three schools since 2019.
