Here’s a look at when, where to find an Easter egg hunt in Centre County in 2023

Easter egg hunting season has arrived. The next few weekends are packed with egg hunts across Centre County in a variety of settings, including football fields, parks, carnival grounds and even underwater. Here’s a look at what’s in store:

  • Freedom Life Church will hold a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt from 6:30-8 p.m. March 26 at the Bald Eagle Area High School football field. The event was originally scheduled for March 25 and postponed due to wet weather. It’s open to children in fifth grade and younger and participants will be separated by age. Participants should bring a basket and a flashlight. There will be additional community activities including inflatables, a petting zoo, face painting and free food. There is no cost for the hunt, but online registration is encouraged.

  • Calvary Harvest Fields, 150 Harvest Fields Drive, Boalsburg, will hold an egg hunt at 10 a.m. April 1. A free pancake breakfast and children’s activities begin at 8:30 a.m.

  • State College Alliance Church and Blue Course Community Church will hold identical community egg hunts at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 1. Activities start 30 minutes prior. The events will be at Blue Course Community Church, 1243 Blue Course Drive.

  • Gregg Township Fire Company will hold its annual egg hunt at 11 a.m. April 1 at the carnival grounds, 3865 Penns Valley Road.

  • Port Matilda’s community egg hunt for children up to age 12 will take place at 1 p.m. April 1 at the community park. Registration will be from 11:30 a.m.-noon.

  • Harmony at State College, 121 Havershire Blvd., will hold a multigenerational Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. April 1.

  • The State College YMCA, 677 W. Whitehall Road, will hold its annual underwater egg hunt from noon to 3:30 p.m. April 2 for children 3 months to 12 years old. The event is free, but space is limited and advance registration is required.

  • Christ Community Church, 200 Ellis Place, State College, will hold an egg hunt at 3 p.m. April 2.

  • Skills and Friends Social Club and Houserville House of Hope will sponsor a free egg hunt for children and adults living with disabilities. The event will take place from 3-4:30 p.m. April 2 at Houserville United Methodist Church, 1320 Houserville Road.

  • Centre Region Parks and Recreation will hold a flashlight Easter egg for teens from 8-9:15 p.m. April 5. Youngsters ages 12-14 should bring a flashlight and bag for the glow-in-the-dark hunt at the Millbrook Marsh Nature Centre barn. The cost is $5 for residents and $8 for nonresidents, and registration is open online.

  • CRPR will again egg your yard for Easter this year. The Easter bunny and CRPR staff will visit interested residents of State College borough and College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton townships during the evening of April 6 and 7 and hide your eggs. The cost depends on the number of eggs hidden. Registration is open until March 31. An egging can also be donated to a family that may not be able to afford the registration fee.

  • The Moshannon Valley branch of the YMCA of Centre County will hold an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. April 8. The event, at Slabtown Recreation Area, Spruce Street, Philipsburg, is open to children 12 and younger. Participants should bring a basket or bag to collect eggs.

  • The Pleasant Gap Easter egg hunt begins at 11 a.m. April 8 at the carnival grounds, 475 Robinson Lane. The hunt is open to children 12 and younger, and registration starts at 10 a.m.

  • Milesburg United Methodist Church, 301 Turnpike St., will host a community egg hunt for children from toddler through sixth grade at 11 a.m. April 8.

  • Fairbrook United Methodist Church, 4201 W. Whitehall Road, Pennsylvania Furnace, will hold its Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. April 8. The event is open to children ages 1-12, and participants should bring baskets or bags.

  • Bellefonte’s Easter egg hunt will take place April 8 at Talleyrand Park for children 12 and younger. The Easter bunny will be available for pictures at 1 p.m., and the egg gathering will start at 2 p.m.

  • Poe Valley State Park will host an Easter egg hunt with a twist at 2 p.m April 8. Follow the clues from the Easter bunny’s bird friends to find their eggs while learning about birds and their nests. The hunt is designed for children 5 and older, and organizers note younger participants will need more adult assistance.

  • Clarence Moose Lodge 1565 will host its annual hunt at 3 p.m. April 9 for children up to fifth grade. The Easter bunny will be available for photos.
