Lonzo Ball won't be ready for training camp scrimmages after offseason knee surgery
Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball won’t be 100 percent when training camp opens. Ball has made progress after having knee surgery in July, but is still unable to participate in 5-on-5 drills, according Spectrum SportsNet.
Lakers coach Luke Walton told Spectrum SportsNet that Ball has been able to take part in one-on-one drills, but hasn’t progressed to scrimmages just yet. The 20-year-old Ball underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in late July. Walton said the team won’t “rush him back” from the injury.
When Ball underwent the procedure in July, the Lakers expected him to be 100 percent by training camp.

During his rookie season with the Lakers, Ball averaged 10.2 points and 7.2 assists per game. Bigger things are expected this year after LeBron James signed with the Lakers during the offseason.
The team did not provide an updated timetable for Ball’s return. Rajon Rondo would be in line for more playing time if Ball is not ready by the start of the regular season.
