Lonzo Ball has the hype, but will he be the top rookie?

The Vertical crew of Chris Mannix, Michael Lee, Brian Scalabrine and Shams Charania breaks down the NBA’s rookie class and what makes Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball so special.

“He’s not afraid to really trust his teammates,” Charania says. “He’s my Rookie of the Year pick.”

While Ball is also the Rookie of the Year favorite in a poll of NBA general managers, Dallas’ Dennis Smith Jr. and Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons should also have a say in the race.

“[Smith is] going to do things that we are constantly going to talk about over the course of year,” Lee says.

Scalabrine, who played 11 NBA seasons, says he is a big believer in the 76ers’ second-year guard who missed his first season because of injury. “I am all in on Ben Simmons,” Scalabrine says.
