The Lonely Island Returns to Offer Some Free Life Advice

Adam Levine's stint hosting Saturday Night Live was memorable not for anything he did, but the returns that came with him. Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island guys came back for the first time since the star left the show at the end of last season.

Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorme Taccone returned for the first time since last year's "Lazy Sunday 2" to offer their thoughts on how to Y.O.L.O., with a little help from Levine, musical guest Kendrick Lamar and Danny McBride (?!). It's not their best work by any stretch, but ultimately they display a deep understanding of what rappers like Drake and Rick Ross push when they remind kids that you only live once.

The best sketch of the night was easily the The Sopranos-return-to-high-school spoof. It's not as out of left field as it sounds, promise! The thing is supposed to be a new CW show because they just launched the (probably terrible) Carrie Diaries, a prequel to the Sex and the City, in real life. Bobby Moynihan shines here as an 80s high-school version of Tony Soprano. (Yes, they acknowledge it doesn't make any sense. Stop worrying about continuity and just enjoy the funny.) We've never seen the Sopranos, to be completely honest here, but we showed this to a friend who just finished watching the whole thing and she nearly died laughing. So Sopranos fans should find this hilarious. Levine, Fred Armisen and Bill Hader round out the cast behind Moynihan.

We're including this reallllly strange Joe Biden sketch on a matter of personal principle. Anytime there's a sketch that includes the VP and and allusion to the 'Macho Man' Randy Savage (God rest his precious soul) it will be acknowledged in these parts. But this sketch has a lot of problems! Saturday Night Live's Biden impression has never, ever been this over the top. This is like a cross between The Onion's 'Diamond' Joe persona and Chuck Norris. It's really strange. And, perhaps most offensively, the writers screwed up the Macho Man part and had him spew a few lines that would be better suited for a Hulk Hogan impression. Hulkamania ran wild on people, not the Macho Man. He was the king. At least one viewer is disappointed with the Saturday Night Live writing staff's knowledge of 80's wrestling. (This one.
