London Police Department earns national Best Dressed Award

May 15—The change from the traditional black uniforms typically worn by city police officers to navy blue earned the London Police Department a national honor.

The department was chosen as the "Best Dressed Public Safety Award" during the NAUMD conference in Florida last week. The Network Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors selected the London troupe in that category that includes awards for police departments across the country, including Canada.

London Police Chief Chuck Johnson said the new design reflected a look into past uniforms that also feature gray pockets and a gray stripe down the leg of the pants.
