Logan's Landing hosts scavenger hunt, business discounts on Friday

Oct. 13—Logansport and Cass County residents will have a reason to come out and explore downtown Logansport Friday night as Logan's Landing presents the first ever "Downtown Shop, Dine and Relax" event.

Logan's Landing is also hosting a scavenger hunt that will lead to different businesses and locations in the downtown area.

Both the scavenger hunt and "Downtown Shop, Dine and Relax" run from 4 until 8 p.m. Local businesses may be open beyond those hours however.

Joe Brewer, Logan's Landing executive director, said that the night was inspired by the First Friday events other towns hosts. Many businesses in the area had asked for a similar night, he said.

"I think it is great Logansport is having a renaissance with activities and events that the community can take part in," said Aaron Click of The Record Farm, located at 430 E. Broadway St. "It seems like there is more and more of that happening these days."

Those interested in participating in the scavenger hunt may stop by The Depot, 421 4th St., at 4 p.m. or after.

The scavenger hunt will take place via an app called "Goose Chase," which is downloadable on both the Apple and Android app stores. Once downloaded, users can enter a code to access the clues.

Codes will be provided at The Depot Friday evening. Participants may also pick up a paper copy of the clues if they would prefer not to use the app.

The scavenger hunt clues will lead participants to downtown businesses and other locations. Once there, participants will need to complete an activity to successfully fulfill the scavenger hunt mission.

Brewer said he wants scavenger hunt participants to interact with down Logansport and not simply walk into a business, snap a selfie and leave.

Scavenger hunt participants will be competing for a set of prizes donated by local businesses.

"I think this is another great opportunity for small local businesses and patrons to be a part of downtown Logansport," Jody Achey, owner of Sage N' Tonic, 220 S. 6th St.

Sage N' Tonic is one of many local businesses that will offer a discount or provide additional entertainment during the night.
