Give Local York 2024 is right around the corner: New logo, higher goals & more fun events

Give Local York, the biggest 24-hour charitable giving event in York County history, is returning for its seventh year.

The event in York County will take place from 9 p.m. Thursday, May 2, through 9 p.m. Friday, May 3, and will feature more than 300 nonprofits whose work benefits York County. Donors can visit www.givelocalyork.org to make their donation.

Last year, over 12,750 donors raised a record $4.64 million for 330 local nonprofits.

What's new this year?

Hosted by the White Rose Leadership Institute, led by Meagan Given, and presented by Giant Food Stores, Give Local York will feature tons of events around the county, in addition to First Friday in Downtown York:

  • Give Local York Hanover Give Day Celebration at Hanover Market, May 3, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Community Paw'ty at SCPA's Brougher Companion Animal Shelter, May 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Stewartstown Block Party, May 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Give Local York Party for the River at John Wright Restaurant in Wrightsville, May 3, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A full list of nonprofit events can be found at GiveLocalYork.org or on Give Local York’s Facebook page.

This year, there are 320 registered nonprofits, more than 30 of which are brand new to participating in Give Day this year, according to Given.

There are also several changes to Give Local to reflect other parts of the county, including Hanover. A URL has been created, givelocalhanover.org, which redirects to the main site, and advertising efforts have been expanded. The Give Local York logo has also been updated to reflect York County.

Goals for this year

This year's donor goal is 13,000, or 3% of York County's population.

In the six years since its founding, Give Local York has united the community and raised more than $20 million for more than 400 local nonprofits from tens of thousands of donors from all over the region, the state, the country, and the world, according to Given.

Give Local York will also livestream and present a real-time virtual event dashboard that will showcase total dollars raised, top participating organizations, leaderboard updates, a donor feed and more.

Give Local York is hosted by the White Rose Leadership Institute, and is presented by GIANT Food Stores, with the Stretch Pool support by The Pullo Family, The Arthur J. & Lee R. Glatfelter Foundation, UPMC, Hollywood Casino York, Rodgers & Associate, Stewart Companies, Tito's Handmade Vodka, M&T Bank, Republic Services, Cultural Alliance of York County, York County Community Foundation, United Way of York County, Memorial Health Fund, PNC Bank and Columbia Gas.
