Sep. 24—Scores and more from Thursday's busy night of high school sports:

Grand Haven

Girls swim/dive: Back on the road in Grandville, the Buccaneers cruised to a victory over the Bulldogs by a 179-132 scoreline.

A relay sweep and five different event winners paced Grand Haven. The relay team of Claudia Busse, Abby Sponaas, Rosalee Springer and Marin Stork kicked the night off with a medley relay victory, and Grace Ackerman was a 10-second winner in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 2:01.44. She added a win in the breaststroke in 1:13.38.

Freshman Ellie Todd's 2:14.73 in the individual medley won by 18 seconds, and she added a comfortable victory in the 500 freestyle later in the night. Springer added a pair of event wins: the 50 freestyle in 25.66 and the 100 free in 55.66.

Lydia Koetsier narrowly won the diving and Busse won the 100 butterfly in 1:02.50 before both freestyle relays earned narrow wins. The team of Ackerman, Springer, Todd and Olivia Schafer won the 200-yard relay, and a team of Busse, Sponaas, Jocelyn Tolliver and Veda Vargas ended the night with a two-second win in the 400-yard.

They'll be back in action next Thursday, when they host Caledonia.

Volleyball: On a trip to Jenison last night, Grand Haven lost a four-set match to the Wildcats. The junior varsity earned a two-set victory over Jenison, and the varsity will travel to Lowell on Saturday for a four-team tournament with Lake Orion and Farmington Hills Mercy.

Spring Lake

Girls golf: At The Mines Gold Club in Grand Rapids, windy conditions pushed the Lakers just behind winners Coopersville in an OK Blue event. Sophomore Clara Saunders had a 45 to lead the way, with junior Kayden Fritsche adding a 46. Kelsey Megley chipped in with a 48 and Clare Stempky shot a 49.

Friday's meet at Ludington ended after press time; their next competition will be next Saturday's conference competition at West Ottawa GC.

Football: The junior varsity hosted Hamilton on Thursday, dropping a 40-14 decision.

Western Michigan Christian WMC needed one half to dispose of Manistee, continuing their run with a 7-0 victory at home. Joey Eastway, Tekalegn Vlasma, Cole DeJonge, Charlie Buursma and Ashton Leffring all scored in the game's first 30 minutes, but the Warriors somehow couldn't add an eighth goal to end the match early.

Their Warrior Weekend match against Grand Rapids Covenant Christian on Saturday starts at 1 p.m.
