Local police arrest man on Oklahoma murder warrant

May 23—Police say a man wanted for murder in Oklahoma was arrested this week in Kokomo.

Demarcus Tyre Williams, 31, formerly of Granada, Mississippi, is facing charges of murder in the first degree, conspiracy and robbery with a deadly weapon, according to a Kokomo Police Department media release.

KPD has been working with U.S. Marshals from Indiana and Oklahoma since May 1 in an attempt to locate Williams, per the release, though police did not state why they believed Williams would have been in the Kokomo area.

Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, the KPD SWAT team and Negotiations team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1100 block of East Taylor Street, where investigators confirmed Williams was at the time.

After police made entry, investigators say Williams surrendered without incident, according to the release.

He was transported to the Howard County Jail and he is being held on an Oklahoma hold while he awaits extradition.

KPD was assisted by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, U.S. Marshals Service and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations.
