It is LOBO time for Coyotes, Huskies and Raiders honored Tuesday

This year's high school athletes are the last to play for the Hirschi Huskies, Rider Raiders Wichita Falls Coyotes, and with that in mind, one of the campuses came up with a motto to bolster achievement not just in the game but on all fronts.

The motto came up at Tuesday night's Wichita Falls ISD School Board meeting when the district recognized athletes from the high schools for earning academic all-state honors.

Coach Marc Bindel told trustees and the crowd of supporters at the Education Center that LOBO — Last One Best One — was one of the themes at Rider this year.

"We really did have a great year. Going along with that theme of LOBO, we had 12 student athletes make academic all-state, which is the most that we've ever had," Bindel said. "So this truly was the best year that we've ever had.”

During the honors, School Board President Katherine McGregor said a few words.

“We know this doesn't happen in a vacuum and we are so thankful to have parents involved in our students’ lives," McGregor said. "What great kids you're raising and what great futures they have, and the coaches are so important to this. So we appreciate all of you.”
