Livingston Parish librarian to release book on censorship, book banning in US
LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Amanda Jones, an award-winning Livingston Parish school librarian, has announced that she is releasing a new book.
“That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America” tells the story of Jones speaking out against censoring sex education, gender, dating, and LGBTQ+ topics in children’s books in libraries.
Jones was one of the first librarians in the United States to file a lawsuit for defamation, according to a release. Fellow librarians, educators, writers, and publishers, and students voiced their support for Jones.
Jones filed a defamation case against two men who she said made several negative posts about her online. The case would be thrown out by a Livingston Parish judge.
The book will be released on Tuesday, Aug. 27. Click here to pre-order “That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America.”
