Nashville Predators allow goals on six consecutive shots in loss to New York Rangers

The New York Rangers scored six goals on six consecutive shots Sunday during the first period against the Nashville Predators at Madison Square Garden, becoming the fourth team to score at least six goals in one period this season during their 7-0 victory.
It tied the Rangers' franchise record for goals in a period.
The loss was the Predators' worst of the season, and the second time they've allowed seven goals in a game. It also was their third consecutive defeat.
After missing its first shot, New York took a 1-0 lead 2 minutes, 37 seconds into the game thanks to Filip Chytil’s goal. Mika Zibanejad and Tyler Motte scored 42 seconds apart to put the home team ahead 3-0 with 12:46 remaining in the first.
K’Andre Miller made it 4-0 with 10:51 remaining in the period, prompting the Predators to pull backup Kevin Lankinen in favor of Juuse Saros.
Saros allowed a power-play goal on the first shot he saw, off the stick of Artemi Panarin with 9:59 left in the first. The next shot he saw also got past him, this time off Miller's stick with 6:24 left in the first period to make it 6-0 Rangers.
The Rangers upped their advantage to 7-0 when Chris Kreider scored with 10:58 left in the second period.
Predators defenseman and captain Roman Josi, who left Saturday's overtime loss against the Winnipeg Jets, did not play and was listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
The Predators also were without Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen, Ryan McDonagh, Alexandre Carrier and Juuso Parssinen, all because of injury.
Tyson Barrie was an alternate captain for the Predators in just his 10th game with the team.
Nashville entered the game five points behind the Jets in the wild-card race, with three games in hand.
The Predators are 34-26-8. The Rangers are 41-19-10 and have won three in a row.
