Live updates: Boise State rushes for over 300 yards, cruises to 40-20 win over Fresno St.

Boise State’s season looked to be spiraling out of control eight days ago when the Broncos found themselves trailing 13-0 at halftime to San Diego State at home. But a punishing rushing attack and an unyielding defense overwhelmed the Aztecs in the second half and perhaps redefined the 2022 narrative.

The first half of Saturday night’s game against Fresno State at Albertsons Stadium produced a much different result and much different type of game. The teams combined for 394 yards of offense and seven scoring drives, and each threw a critical interception that set up the opponent deep in enemy territory.

Boise State had 146 yards rushing in the first half, with RB George Holani earning 80 yards on just five carries. But Fresno State had a balanced attack, with 99 yards passing and 89 rushing, and the Bulldogs are in the game one week after suffering an embarrassing loss at UConn.

Broncos without 5 players tonight, including punter

Boise State offensive lineman Ben Dooley will miss his sixth straight game as the Broncos take on Fresno State.

Dooley, center Kekaniokao Holomalia-Gonzalez, edge rusher Deven Wright and defensive end Cortez Hogans Jr. are also out because of unspecified injuries.

Mason Randolph will start for Dooley at right guard, and Texas Tech transfer Will Farrar will start at center for the third game in a row.

Freshman punter James Ferguson Reynolds is also out tonight for undisclosed reasons. A spokesperson for Boise State wouldn’t confirm why, but said it’s not because of an injury or for disciplinary reasons.

Freshman Will Ferrin will handle the punting duties.
