Several counties in NE Kansas under tornado, severe thunderstorm watch
TOPEKA (KSNT) – At 7:24 p.m., parks of Jackson County is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:30 p.m.
At 6:54 p.m. parts of Shawnee, Douglas and Jefferson Counties are under a tornado warning until 7:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
A tornado has touched down in Pottawatomie county around 4:40 p.m, according to 27 Chief Meteorologist Matt Miller.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning in Pottawatomie county at 4:44 p.m. It will be in effect until 10 p.m. Tornado warnings have been issued for Nemaha and Marshall counties around 5 p.m.
Several counties in Kansas, including Atchison, Brown, Coffey, Geary, Jackson, Jefferson, Lyon, Marshall, Nemaha, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley, Shawnee and Wabaunsee are under a tornado watch throughout Tuesday afternoon.
A Severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Geary County. It will be in effect until 5 p.m.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Brown, Marshall, Nemaha and Pottawatomie counties at 4:30 p.m. It will be in effect until 5 p.m. Some hazards that come with severe thunderstorm warnings include 70 mile per hour wind gusts and half-dollar sized hail, according to the NWS.
At around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April, 30, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch that will be in effect until 11 p.m. for the following counties:
