Do you live in one of Colorado’s ‘million-dollar’ cities?
DENVER (KDVR) — Do you live in one of Colorado’s million-dollar cities?
Colorado ranks sixth in the U.S. for the number of municipalities where the typical home value is more than $1 million, according to a new analysis from Zillow.
How much do you need to earn to afford a Denver home?
Zillow counted 550 million-dollar cities in the U.S. — a figure that rose by 59 since last year.
“A tight housing market with few homes available has kept home values rising, even while affordability challenges have hampered buyers,” according to a Zillow release.
In the Centennial State, Zillow counted 21 million-dollar cities. The figures are based on the Zillow Home Value Index, which measures the “typical home value for the region” by calculating a weighted average of the middle third of homes.
Colorado cities with typical home values over $1M
As to be expected, Colorado’s mountain destinations are largely represented on the list, but it includes some Denver-area luxury enclaves, too.
Aspen topped the list, with a typical home value of nearly $3.3 million.
In second place comes the Denver suburb known for its pricey mansions and celebrity residents: Cherry Hills Village. A typical home value there comes in at just under $3 million. This is the place where ex-Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson just sold his mansion for $21.5 million.
