ATV rider leads high-speed chase in Florida

MIAMI (WFLA) — A person riding an ATV led a high-speed chase in South Florida Monday morning.

The reason for the chase is not yet known. However, it appeared to mostly take place on I-95 as the driver wove through traffic and even drove in the wrong lanes.

Eventually, the ATV rider slowed down and stopped on a sidewalk. Officers then shoved the rider to the ground as they took the suspect into custody in Sunrise, Florida.

NBC affiliate WTVJ reported that the chase crossed from Miami-Dade County into Broward County.

All-terrain vehicles are banned on paved roads and can only be operated on unpaved roads where the speed limit is less than 35 mph, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
