Liv Tyler reveals she had COVID as she's reunited with children after 10 days
Liv Tyler has revealed that she has been battling COVID-19 since New Year as she shared a photo of reuniting with her children after 10 days apart.
The actor admitted that she is usually a very private person, but felt a responsibility to share her health woes in solidarity with others going through the same thing.
Posting a sweet snap of her reunion with her children, who she’d been isolating from while she spent 10 days ill in bed, Tyler detailed the rough start to 2021 that she’d had.
She wrote: “Reunited with my loves ... what a wild 2 weeks. I’m such a private and shy person and usually don’t share such things but this is a big one and I feel we all need to share our stories, to share information, to gather facts and awareness and mostly to know we are not alone in this.”
In the long statement about her illness, Tyler wrote that she had tested positive for COVID on New Year’s Eve and couldn’t believe her bad luck, having spent 2020 trying to keep her family safe from the virus.

However, she said that thankfully the rest of her family had not caught coronavirus and told how she had spent a tough 10 days in isolation to make sure they stayed well.
She wrote: “It comes on fast, like a locomotive. Owchie. With it feelings of fear, shame and guilt swirling through you, who could you have gotten it from and who could you have infected...Terrifying.”
Tyler joked that she had had “corona light”, although she added: “but It floored me for 10 days in my bed.”
She continued that it had been strange watching Trump supporters storm the Capitol from her isolation: “Being isolated in a room alone for 10 days is trippy to say the least. Waking up to news of our capital being under attack. Was it real or the twilight zone? Ohhh no it was real!!!”
Her famous friends wished her well, including Andie MacDowell who wrote: “Beautiful children and I’m so thankful you had it lightly.”
Daisy Lowe commented: “So happy you are healing & able to be with your loved ones again- sending you all the love Liv.”
Erin O’Connor, Laura Bailey, Helena Christensen and Cat Power also sent their love.
Sharing a photo of her hugging her children while wearing a mask, she wrote: “I missed my babies beyond but they visited my window and called up to me and I watch them play outside. Such a gift. They sent little messages and drawings under my door. Reminders of what’s on the other side. What to get better for.”
Tyler added that she was making a good recovery and sent “love and light” to all of those who had died from COVID.
