Littleton bus aide facing 10 new charges after allegedly abusing at-risk student

DENVER (KDVR) — A former Littleton bus aide who allegedly abused an at-risk student is facing 10 additional charges, according to the district attorney’s office.

Kiarra Monte Laron Jones, 29, is facing eight charges of third-degree assault – knowing/reckless injury and two charges of child abuse – knowing/reckless- bodily injury, according to DA’s office.

The 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office originally charged in Jones April on one felony count of third-degree assault against an at-risk person.

According to the attorney representing the student and his family, Jones was facing 11 new charges, however, the DA’s office told FOX31 there are only 10 new charges for a total of 11 charges.

According to Rathod Mohamedbhai LLC, the charges stem from the alleged abuse of autistic children at The Joshua School. The firm is representing three families within Littleton Public Schools for the alleged abuse on a school bus.

Aide allegedly abused at-risk student

The charges come after a Littleton Public Schools bus aide was caught on video punching and stomping a nonverbal student.

Jones, a former paraprofessional at Littleton Public Schools, was seen on the video allegedly punching an at-risk student and pushing, hitting and touching him in an unwelcoming way, according to the affidavit for her arrest.

According to the families’ law firm, this happened for months, with signs dating back to September 2023.

Jones appeared in court on Friday afternoon, where she was scheduled for an arraignment on July 1.
