Little Rock police arrest 18-year-old accused of abusing infant son, leading to child’s death

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Police say a Little Rock 3-month-old died after suffering severe brain injuries from abuse that officers said came from the infant’s teenage father.

Little Rock Police Department Officials said the infant was brought to a local hospital on the morning of April 11, 2024. Doctors first diagnosed the brain injuries before the child died in the hospital.

Pulaski County deputies investigating deadly shooting in McAlmont community

Authorities said LRPD detectives were contacted and began an investigation into the child’s death. The detectives said they developed the infant’s father, 18-year-old Xavier Tyquan Andrews, as the primary suspect in the case.

Police arrested Andrews on Monday and took him to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility.

He is being held without bond. Andrews pled not guilty in court Tuesday to a charge of capital murder.
