‘Little Rascals’ ages 11, 12, and 16 arrested after Texas bank robbery: police

(NewsNation) — Three boys between the ages of 11 and 16 were taken into custody in connection with the robbery of a bank in Texas.

Authorities said the incident happened at a Wells Fargo in the Greenspoint area of north Houston on March 14.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which was assisted by the FBI’s Houston office in the investigation, the boys passed a teller a threatening note. The boys were thought to be armed, though they didn’t show a weapon.

The boys were dubbed the “Little Rascals” on account of their age, which was initially reported to be between 14 and 18 based on witness reports. The boys arrested turned out to be 11, 12 and 16 when they were apprehended.

Authorities released surveillance photos of the suspects, and the parents of two of the boys identified them to law enforcement, while the third came into contact with police following a fight and was recognized by officers.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told the Associated Press that the boys have been charged with robbery by threat. The FBI has not released the names of the trio because of their age.

The boys got away with an unknown amount of cash and authorities have not confirmed whether the money was recovered or if there were any other people involved.
