Little People, Big World's Amy Roloff Opens Up About Starting Over – and Dating Again – After Divorce

Divorce isn't easy, but Amy Roloff is trying her best to see the silver lining.

Her divorce from husband Matt, 54 was filed in 2015 and finalized in May 2016, but the pair remain business partners and strong role models for their kids.

"We remain respectful and cordial," Amy tells PEOPLE about her relationship with Matt. "We have several businesses that we are currently still involved in and so we do still work together. We still get together for family type of events with the kids of course. We may not be together anymore but we are still family."

The 51-year-old reality star does admit that although it's hard starting over again, it's also exciting.

"I wish I didn't have to at this age, but it also feels new, exciting, scary, adventurous, uncertain and intriguing to discover me again all at the same time," Amy says. "We'll see what happens next."

As for how she's handling the big changes in her life, Amy admits that she doesn't always know what she's doing, but she is breaking out of her comfort zone – she even got a tattoo!

"I think I'm handling the divorce/split as well as can be expected," Amy says. "I'm moving forward. I'm beginning to reconnect with friends, meet other people, figuring out this whole social thing all over again in todays day. It's exciting to know that I can get outside of my box and comfort zone, even if I don't feel like I know what I'm doing, I still do it."

"Life is good," she adds. "I'm good."

The The Little People, Big World finale airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.
