Little Girl Falls Asleep on Cop Who Offered to Babysit Her While Dad Was in Court

A Utah cop with a heart of gold offered to help a dad in need of a babysitter recently and now footage of the good deed is going viral.

It all started when the dad was awaiting his hearing at a Utah County court along with his highly active two-year-old daughter.

When the man's scheduled hearing time arrived, he tried to take his daughter into court, where children aren't allowed.

The dad was at a loss for what to do when Officer Kevin Norris of the Orem Police Department stepped in to the rescue.

"We've been there," Norris, himself a father of two, told INSIDE EDITION.

The Orem Police Department wrote about the touching scene in a Facebook post along with surveillance footage from inside the courthouse.

"You'll see from the court surveillance video that the little girl took to Officer Norris as he walked her around, getting drinks of water and treats from the Deputies at the front door,"

Officer Norris, who was waiting to appear at his own court hearing, kept the girl entertained on his lap by showing her cartoons on his cellphone.

Even more adorably, the little girl ended up falling asleep on the officer's lap.

"You can tell that Officer Norris is a father first and police officer second!" reads the post.

The Facebook video had been viewed nearly 100,000 times just hours after it was posted by Orem police, but don't remind Norris that it was his own sweetside that got them the positive publicity.

"I'm thankful it shined a positive light on law enforcement," the cop of nine years laughed. "I just wish it wasn't shining on me."
