After much speculation, a representative for Lindsay Lohan has denied the star has converted to Islam.

Following a decision to wipe clean her Instagram and Twitter account, a move her representatives told Perez Hilton was about a “period of renewal” and “making positive changes in her life” (something we can all relate to, tbh), the star sparked rumors that she had finally converted to Islam after returning to Instagram briefly to change her bio to “Alaikum salam,” which means “and unto you be peace” in Arabic.

Well, now a representative for Lohan, along with the stars family, have denied that Lindsay has converted to Islam.

In statements delivered to Gossip Cop, Lindsay’s mother, Dina, noted that her daughter was just taking some time out from social media, but noted that she hadn’t changed religions. Similarly, a representative for the star also confirmed that Lindsay had not converted faiths.

Speculation about Lindsay’s exploration into different faiths began last year after the 30-year-old was pictured holding a copy of the Quarn. She later told The Sun about her newfound passion for the religion and for meditation.

“I’m a very spiritual person and I’m really open to learning,” she said. “America has portrayed holding a Quran in such a different way to what it actually is. We all believe in something and at the end of the day it all ties to a god or a spiritual adviser.”

Despite this, Lindasy lamented the backlash she experienced for being pictured holding the Quran. “They made me seem like Satan. I was a bad person for holding that Quran,” she said to Turkish news station Habertürk TV. “The Quran opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am.”

Last year, Lindsay Lohan spent time in Turkey volunteering with refugees who have fled the civil war in Syria.

The star spoke about her newfound socio-political awakening, saying that it all happened with she turned 30. Speaking to Ok! Online, Lindsay said she wanted to give back.

“There comes a time in one’s life where you stop and reflect on all of the experiences you have had, for me it happened when I turned 30 and realised there is more in giving back in life,” she said. “That is what will make you truly happy.”

Meanwhile, LiLo announced that she was writing a book about her experiences in and out of the spotlight. “I am very excited to share my personal experiences in life and how to overcome obstacles,” she told Vanity Fair. “I hope that my words will connect with those who need some guidance when [or] if they are in a tough place.”

We hope that Lindsay is enjoying her social media detox, and hope that she continues to power through with her dedication to helping others.
